Church, Ecclesia, Body of Christ…What’s More Important?
We have to decide what’s more important to us…the call of our flesh, or the call of the Lord. Hear me, friends. I’m not talking about legalism or religion, but our heart posture toward Jesus, choosing HIM over our fleshly passions. Choosing to follow the call of the Lord over our flesh isn’t a walk in the park. It’s HARD! The flesh screams out to be satisfied and looks for all sorts of excuses and validations for giving in.
We can even use our faith to explain how the Lord will give us a pass for handing over our destiny. We use phrases like “my Jesus” wouldn’t condemn me just for that.
Who is “Your Jesus?”
My first question would be…who is “your Jesus?” Is it the God of the Bible? The one that is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow? Or the one that fits into the narrative you need to lessen the conviction of Holy Spirit? Could it be that this is a false Jesus? Could the angel of light (Satan) be parading around as Jesus?
Jesus is Merciful, Forgiving, and Loving
Yes, Jesus is merciful, forgiving, and full of love.
Jesus doesn’t condemn the woman caught in adultery in John 8, but he DOES tell her to go and leave her life of sin. He doesn’t say, “neither do I condemn you, but go and keep sleeping around on your husband.”
No. Jesus says…
“Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”
I’m convinced that when the woman walked away, she was advanced into her destiny.
But can I pose a question, friends?
Is satiating the passions of our flesh in this earthly experience worth the cost? Is it worth the chains and bondage you’ll be adding daily by walking in rebellion?
Rebellion is as Sinful as Witchcraft
In 1 Samuel 15:23, it says,
“Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.”
When we KNOW the word of the Lord and CHOOSE to walk in our sin, it’s rebellion and stubbornness. We want to gratify the screaming flesh MORE than we want to sacrifice for the Lord.
Satisfy the flesh with Living water. Satisfy it with Jesus!
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
