What is your first reaction to distress or pain? Is it to cry in anguish before the Lord? Or is it to post on social media and call anyone who will listen?

Where Does Our Help Come From?

His Word tells us where we should go. HIM! When the pain comes, our help comes from the Lord. He is our loving father and helper.

What help can any man or woman give that will relieve the pain? A bent ear? Yes. But they cannot satisfy or comfort our hearts. No man or woman can do that for you or me. So, why do we reach for earthly answers that will fail instead of heavenly solutions that never fail?

How many Ishmaels do we create in life because of impatience, grasping for straws in our suffering? I believe if we look to our past, we will find more times than we care to admit where we moved out in our own understanding and further delayed the Lord’s provision or created more problems for ourselves. God promises that if we wait on Him, He is our help.

God Promises He Will Help

With God, He promises to help. He’ll take you and me from the place that is crushing us into a beautiful broad place if we wait upon His help and answer. Remember, God is faithful to do what He says He will do. He is taking care of more than we know or see.

How Do We Respond?

When the squeezing comes, when pain and anguish show up at your doorstep, we respond by skipping social media and the knee-jerk reaction to phone-a-friend. Instead, get on your knees and cry out to God. Keep doing it until He shows up. He WILL COME!

Heavenly Father, I am in deep anguish. My bones rattle within me because of my distress. I trust and wait upon you because I know that you will come to my rescue and take me from this place of crushing into a broad place. I declare and decree that I will wait upon you and not look to my own understanding or solutions. I praise you, Lord, that your provision is already on its way. Thank you for the comforting reminder that you are the Lord of heaven and earth. I’m sorry that I am so quick to doubt that you always answer when I cry out to you. I give you my fear. Clothe me with confidence and strength that comes only from you. I love you so much, and am so grateful to be your child.

In Jesus’s name, amen.

Our Help Comes from the Lord

“Out of my deep anguish and pain, I prayed, and God, you helped me as a father. You came to my rescue and broke open the way into a beautiful and broad place. Now I know, Lord, that you are for me, and I will never fear what man can do to me.” Psalm 118:5-6 TPT
